Music Reflections

How do i obtain my music?
I often obtain music from sites such as itunes and songlover.pk. I like using these sites because they contain the music that is up to date and popular at the minute.

How do I watch/listen to my  music in different environments?
I listen to music via my phone often, when I download music it's usually on my phone so the music I want to listen to is usually on my phone. I also have the spotify app on my phone which is what I would use if a song/artist I wanted to listen to at a specific time isn't already on my phone. I use my laptop also as a platform on which to listen to the radio, because I don't own a car, my daddy does, I'm not usually in the car so therefore I dont have ready access to a radio. I only sometimes watch music on tv, this would be more when getting ready with friends to go out or when I'm sitting alone bored. The amount I listen to music has definitely decreased.

How do you store/organise your music?
Now-a-days I do not use CD's at all, and because all my music is stored on either my phone, spotify or laptop, with their built in librarys music is automatically stored in alphabetical order but could be rearranged to suit date of download, file size etc.

How do you engage with the artists you like and how do you support them?
I keep up to date with some of my favourite artists via social media sites such as twitter and facebook. This includes recent tour dates and things which they think might be relevant. I support them by attending their concerts, but this has definitely decreased recently. In 2012 I attended 4/55 concerts. this year i haven't attended one concert as of yet, I have planned to however the issue of money and school has prohibited this.

What encourages me to buy music from a band(or discouraged)?
If its a song I think is catchy, or an album which contains songs I like, I would be more liekly to buy it. However, I will not buy an album if I don't like the attitudes of members or a band/artist, or I simply don't like their music.

How would your music consumption be different to peers/relatives?
I think how I consume music is similar to many people of my generation and certainely some from the generation before me. However, when I spoke ot my parents over this, they said they can't believe how music is consumed today in comparison to their generation when the only way for them to listen to music was radio or to go out and buy a record. I would honestly prefer to listen to music in this way because I think you would have a greater feel for the artist.

Does the possibility of legal action/internet disconnection worry you?
No, because I think it's going on far too long for police/legal authorities to worry about it. also, in the scheme of things I don't think illegally downloading media is as big an issue in the scheme of things compared to other things affecting our society - murder, theft, muggings, sexual assault etc. But, if legal action was taken against me for any reason I wouldn't deny that I was in the wrong, I would own up to my wrong-doing - I simply don't believe that downloading a 3MB song from the internet is really a big deal in the scheme of things.

Do the people who pay for broadband know how you access your music?
I use a dongle for my internet which I pay for myself, and when downloading on my phone, I pay for my blackberry bolt on which allows me to access the internet. Therefore I'm responsible for all my own actions on the internet. My parents are aware of how I access my music though and they don't have a problem - my daddy uses his phone in the same way.
